Thom Browne Spring/Summer 2027: A Bug’s Life

Thom Browne dialled up the whimsy in his Spring/Summer 2027 collection.

Thom Browne unveiled his Spring/Summer 2027 collection in a garden of his own making. With Browne’s last collection in Milan dating back to 2008, his return to the city felt monumental.

Across 57 looks, the Thom Browne uniform remained instantly recognisable: a sharp tailored blazer, pleated bottoms, collegiate knitwear and a statement tie. However, for the new season, the designer dreamt up a well-dressed bee-keeper, transporting his signature codes into a world that felt straight out of Mary Poppins painting.

Pastel seersuckers and madras flooded the runway. Embroidered bees, dragonflies, spiders and honeycombs bloomed across jackets, culottes and parkas. Even the runway itself was dressed to the theme, lined with potted white flowers to complete the illusion of “a walk in the park”.

Aside from the insect motifs and classic uniforms, the bags were the other scene-stealers. A juxtaposition from the whimsy of the collection, the bags felt more serious and structured, bringing a sense of polish to Browne’s already playful garden.

Then came a runaway… groom? An all-white look, complete with a dramatic tulle train trailing along the runway, brought the collection to a deliberately theatrical close. The cherry on top was Browne taking his final bow in a playful frog headpiece.
