SGIFF 2026 Returns With an Exciting Lineup
Here’s exactly what you need to know about Singapore International Film Festival 2026 before it begins.
Singapore International Film Festival (SGIFF) is back. This year’s edition marks 37 years of the festival. Running from 21 October to 1 November 2026, more than 100 films are in the lineup.
What’s Important to Know
The 11-day festival will open with South Korean thriller The Assassin(s), starring Yoo Hae Jin, Park Hae Il and Lee Min Ho. More than 25 Singapore productions and co-productions that have received recognition at other festivals, including Cannes, Sundance, Toronto and Melbourne, will also be screened. Among them: award-winning Ah Girl (2026) directed by Ang Geck Geck, The House on the Moon (2026) directed by Nelson Yeo that features virtual production segments and Four Seasons in Java (2026) that was directed by Indonesian filmmaker Kamila Andini and co-produced by acclaimed filmmaker Anthony Chen.
Trailblazers within the international film industry are also being honoured. This year’s Screen Icon Award goes to Bollywood icon Aamir Khan, who’ll be in town for the screening of the 25th anniversary of his iconic film Lagaan: Once Upon a Time in India (2021). Japanese filmmaker Hirokazu Koreeda will be presented with this year’s Cinema Honorary Award and his film Look Back (2026) will have its Southeast Asian premiere at SGIFF 2026.

What’s New
New segments and updates to existing segments are put in to cater to diverse audience needs.
A ‘Juniors Explorers’ section has sensory-friendly screenings suited towards younger audiences. It opens with Brave Cat about a young forest cat searching for her lost family, suited to all ages.
Three live performances join the Undercurrent segment. Interdisciplinary mediums such as Taiwanese puppetry and music performance are blended with moving images, adding nuance to the experience of film creations.
SGIFF Pro, the festival’s industry and talent development programme, expands with three new additions. It spans talks and demonstrations (Parallax), industry exposure programme for students (Off Campus) and a platform to encourage Singapore and international co-production (Pitching Forum).
