The Wellness Apps to Make Everyday Life Better (They’re Worth the Screen Time Too)

Our phones may take up a lot of our time, but these apps could change up your phone usage to benefit your sleep, health and productivity.

Unless you live off the grid, it is virtually impossible to live everyday life without mobile devices. Since we’re already spending all that time on our phones, it might as well be for our good. Our proposition: wellness apps.

Of course, it hardly makes logical sense to increase screen time, when that might already mess with our wellbeing. Look at this from a different viewpoint: time well spent is subjective, and if you are into getting better sleep, health and productivity, welcome to the club of transmuting phone usage into wellbeing.

Breethe

For switching off better

Good sleep can be elusive to many of us, what with our over-stimulating lives. If you resonate with this struggle, there might just be a tool to mitigate the issue you’re facing. On Breethe, a library with audio tracks exists to usher in better sleep. If that is not your preferred medium, there are other options such as meditation exercises, stories, music and therapeutic guidance.

Mindfi

For a healthier mind

Short for mind fitness, Mindfi supplements physical wellness with a focus on mental wellness. Aimed at demystifying the process of getting acquainted with meditation, the app has a plethora of features. Be it forum conversations moderated by qualified experts, curated videos, live classes or self-care resources, there are many tools at your disposal.

Strava

For finding the right workout buddies

Strava is perhaps one of the most popular fitness apps, yet it proves why it is worth mentioning. The app offers progress tracking across more than 50 sports, be it yoga, skiing or canoeing, which is pretty impressive. Designed to be community-forward, the ability to give and receive ‘kudos’ is a great incentive to share about what you and those around you are exploring movement-wise. Strava Premium brings in more advanced features such as training analysis and crafting and saving preferred routes, great for those looking to be more serious about their workouts.

Down Dog

For switching up your exercise routine

This app ecosystem combines personal training and studio workouts across six apps, which allows you to plan your workouts at your own convenience, time- and location-wise. Through Down Dog, workouts can be tailored to align with your confidence levels and preferences. Some options include choosing actions to omit, workout duration and background music. Every practice is also generated on the spot to be unique, not a repetition of former exercises.

Notion

For a second brain

Life does feel overwhelming at times, and Notion reminds us that having a tool that helps us stay organised is so useful. Built to be highly customisable with a wide range of features, the app has gained the reputation of being an extension of one’s mind. Regardless of work or play, you can decide how you write, plan and organise your notes, tasks, projects and more.

Todoist

For fans of to-do lists

If you’re someone who creates to-do lists to stay on top of things, then this app might just be the one for you. By transforming chaos into order, Todoist might just give you the extra push you need to excel at your 9 to 5 and 5 to 9. It also syncs across different devices and platforms, not just on your phone, making it as adaptable as you need it to be.
