These Are the New Apple Releases, Including the First-ever iPhone Duo
This Apple Event saw the debut of the iPhone Duo, alongside new additions to the iPhone Pro, Apple Watch and AirPods ranges.
Apple Events are always surrounded by the buzz and curiosity that it warrants. This year’s Event, titled “Surprise and Shine”, was no different, with the official announcement of the foldable iPhone Duo hogging headlines the day after. Here are the noteworthy details about each new release.
iPhone Duo
The iPhone Duo is Apple’s first-ever foldable iPhone. The model is their thinnest yet, boasting a 7.6 inch inner display and a 5.4 inch outer display when folded. It’s constructed from grade 5 titanium and enveloped in Ceramic Shield on the back and Ceramic Shield 2 on the front. Apple reconfigured screen controls for intuitive usage, placing them along the height of the phone.

The iPhone Duo has model-specific camera capabilities, owing to its foldability resulting in dual displays. This includes shot previews, automatic photo capture powered by AI capabilities and double-sided Facetime displays.
It comes in two colours – star white and night sky. Preorders for it begin 16 October.
iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max

The iPhone 18 Pro range may resemble the iPhone 17 Pro range looks-wise, but boasts features that its predecessor does not.
It comes equipped with the most powerful camera system ever built for an iPhone. The 48MP Fusion Main camera comes with variable aperture, which affects the footage that can be captured.
If you’re going on a long-haul flight and need inflight entertainment, you’re all set. Battery life in the form of video playback time wise, the 18 Pro gives up to 36 hours and the 18 Pro Max gives up to 45 hours. Siri AI, a combination of Apple Intelligence and Siri, is being rolled out in beta form with iOS 27 on 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max.

It’s available in four finishes: black, silver, glacier and an all-new burgundy.
Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4

Apple touts the upgrade to the Apple Watch range incorporates the most accurate heart rate sensor in a wearable. The new Health Sensing System and S11 chip power the enhanced suite of health and fitness features, which informs updates on the body’s readiness for activity in the day ahead.
Apple Intelligence-powered Audio Intelligence truly positions the Apple Watch as more than a health watch — it’s a watch for life. One interesting feature that leverages the built-in microphone is Live Rewind, which recalls 15 seconds of an ongoing conversation as a text snippet. An accessibility feature in the form of Sound Recognition alerts users who are deaf or hard of hearing to important sounds, such as sirens, doorbells or a baby crying.

Apple Watch Series 12 is available in aluminium, ceramic and titanium finishes. Apple Watch Ultra 4 is available in natural and black titanium.
Airpods 5
This latest update to the base AirPods model makes Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) the default within the AirPods range. This model’s version of ANC is markedly better than in AirPods 4. Live Translation is also available, for ease of cross-language communication. There’s two versions – the baseline AirPods 5 and AirPods 5 with Wireless Charging Case – with the latter having on-stem volume control, previously only available for the AirPods Pro range.
