Louis Vuitton calls it Timeless Textiles, a material innovation programme that reimagines heritage fabrics through contemporary engineering. Rather than replacing traditional craftsmanship, it enhances it, creating textiles that retain the elegance of classic menswear while meeting the demands of modern life.
Developed by the artisans of Louis Vuitton Studio Homme, these fabrics are expressions of functionality, durability and technical excellence. At the heart of its innovation is Silk Tech, a twill-woven hybrid of silk and reclaimed nylon. Making its debut in the classic Louis Vuitton’s Monogram, the maison is signalling how legacy still has room at the idea table.
Silk Tech fabric is water-repellent, anti-fraying, crease-resistant and lightweight. It even masquerades as leather, with its subtle sheen and silken feel. Inspired by the engineering of early 20th-century silk parachutes and hot air balloons, its construction is the amalgamation of mechanical achievement and textural appeal. Its pairing with vegetable-tanned cowhide leather recalls the classic construction behind the maison’s most iconic styles, and the evolving conversation between different materials. Silk Tech makes its debut across ready-to-wear pieces, bags and travel goods. It is also used in a classic hooded windbreaker, a down puffer, and the City bag capable of supporting up to 50kg, a testament to its versatility.
