A. Lange & Söhne brings its chronograph expertise and longstanding motoring ties to Singapore with an exhibition at ION Orchard, from 18 to 30 October.

The A. Lange & Söhne 1815 Chronograph

A. Lange & Söhne is set to showcase its exclusive “Challenging Chronographs”, an exclusive pop-up exhibition at ION Orchard, from 18 to 30 October 2026. Spanning two of the atrium’s spaces, the showcase aims to shine a spotlight on the motoring heritage that lies at the heart of manufacture’s watchmaking artistry. Visitors will experience live demonstrations by an engraver and watchmaker showcasing their exceptional craftsmanship.

The Art of Hand Engraving

Throughout the duration of pop-up, a master watchmaker and a master engraver from the A. Lange & Söhne manufacture in Glashütte will be part of the visitors’ journey as they experience the meticulous, hand-executed techniques behind every timepiece. Visitors will be able to watch the art of hand engraving unfold, from the intricate florals and scrollwork found on balance cocks to the decorative motifs on case backs, the very details that make every Lange watch a one-of-a-kind creation.

A Shared Appreciation for Automotive Design

Watch lovers and horology design enthusiasts will also have an intimate look at the manufacture’s decades-long presence in the world of historic motoring and its reputation as one of fine watchmaking’s foremost chronograph specialists. 2026 marks A. Lange & Söhne’s 15th year as the official partner of the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este on Lake Como. Each year, this partnership culminates with A. Lange & Söhne donating a unique, hand-engraved timepiece to the winner of the coveted “Best of Show” award, a tradition that has crowned everything from vintage Bugattis to rare pre-war BMWs.

A. Lange & Söhne’s appreciation for automotive design is also reflected in its longstanding involvement with prestigious motoring events, including the Concours of Elegance at Hampton Court Palace in the United Kingdom, which it has supported since 2018, and the Audrain Newport Concours d’Elegance & Motor Week in the United States.

The Making of a Chronograph Icon

At the heart of A. Lange & Söhne’s chronograph expertise is the Datograph, first introduced in 1999 as the manufacture’s inaugural proprietary chronograph movement. Its precisely jumping minute counter, flyback function and signature outsize date established a distinctive approach to measuring elapsed time, laying the groundwork for the complications that followed. The Double Split, launched in 2004, introduced the world’s first double rattrapante chronograph, enabling the measurement of two separate time intervals.

In 2018, the Triple Split advanced this capability further, becoming the only mechanical split-seconds chronograph capable of measuring comparative times across a period of up to 12 hours. Together, these developments reflect more than 25 years of chronograph innovation, encompassing 13 models and some of the manufacture’s most technically ambitious timepieces. At the ION Orchard exhibition, the Datograph and its family of complications take centre stage, offering visitors a closer look at the mechanics behind A. Lange & Söhne’s approach to precision timekeeping.
